Actually, it was on yesterday's date in 1966 when ULTRAMAN premiered in Japan spawning a franchise of spin-off series and feature film versions that still continues to this day. In my neck of the woods, it wasn't seen until 1969 or 1970 but it quickly became a favorite when it was!
